Program Description:
CUBA: Expanding Professional Horizons

Illinois College is offering a new short-term study abroad program Cuba: Expanding Professional Horizons that will allow students to explore Cuban culture, improve their Spanish language skills, and attend courses in the areas of Healthcare, Environmental Science, and Early Childhood/Elementary Education. These programs are hosted by our partner institution the University of Pinar del Rio. The Spanish language instruction will also be specialized depending on which course track you select. Students need to already have basic Spanish skills for these three tracks. There is a Cuban Culture/Spanish language track for those with no Spanish language skills. The cost is $2,700 (not including airfare which is usually around $500-600). Students with financial need or who have taken 200-level Spanish courses can apply for travel awards.
Please note that this is a study abroad experience, so you will also be required to take a one credit course in the spring semester preceding this program to prepare for your abroad experience and a one credit course in the fall semester following your program to help you process the experience and incorporate it into your professional resume.
Questions about this new exciting opportunity can be directed to Dr. Steve Gardner at sgardner@ic.edu.
