Program Description:
The University of Greifswald is a newer direct exchange program with Illinois College. Founded in 1456, it is now one of the smaller, but also most modern universities in Germany. The city of Greifswald is located on the Baltic Sea, surrounded by some of the most untouched nature preserves of Germany. The university is world renowned for its research in the areas of bio-technology, environmental sciences, and sustainability. The university offers a wide selection of courses taught in English, ranging for instance, from geology to linguistics. These are the courses in which IC students will normally enroll. German proficiency at the level of regular course work is not expected, though at least one semester of German to function in everyday life is required to be eligible for this exchange.
